You hear a lot about morning routines these days, and I think it’s for good reason; the way you start your morning will dictate the rest of your day. If you wake up grumpy, frazzled and rushed, the rest of the day will spiral out of control from there. But wake up mindfully, fueling your body, mind and spirit with positivity and a little magic will set you up for an intentionally day where you’re in alignment and connected to your inner magic!
In this guide I’ll walk you through 6 easy steps for a more magical day. Follow along and hopefully some of these suggestions will become new habits as you adopt a more intentional and magical morning!
1) Make Crystal Infused Water
Before you go to bed, fill a glass pitcher (or large mason jar) with water. Place a piece of raw Clear Quartz in the bottom. You can actually use any crystal for this- others that work well are Rose Quartz, Moonstone, Smokey Quartz, Apophyllite. However, use caution; not all crystals should go in water, and some crystals are not safe for us to consume. Especially if a crystal is crumbly (think Selenite) or tumbled/polished, you won’t want to put this in your water. The best practice is actually placing your crystals against the jar, but not actually in the water. The energy will still transfer and you’ll be sure to keep you and your crystals safe. (If it happens to be a full moon, put your pitcher outside to absorb the energy of the moon as well!)
2) Meditate + Set your Daily Intention
Upon waking, even before you get out of bed, take a few minutes to meditate. Sit up, close your eyes and focus on your breath. When you are present, clear and feel fueled with peace, take a moment to set your intention for the day. It may be to practice gratitude throughout your day. It may be to get started on a project you’re trying to get done. It may be to think kind thoughts about yourself all day. It’s just for today, so keep it simple. This sets you up for an intentional, purposeful day and gets you aligned with your Soul’s path.
3) Light Incense
While you start your morning bathroom routine (washing your face, showering etc), light an incense in your bathroom. I always find that burning incense welcomes a sacred space and makes the atmosphere feel magical. If you don’t like incense you can always opt for essential oils; drop them in your shower, rub them in the palms of your hands or diffuse them. I even decorate my counter top with a few choice crystals to raise the vibrations of the space.
4) Sun Salutations
Before getting your breakfast ready do 3 rounds of Sun Salutations to welcome the day and energize your body. If yoga’s not your thing, do any kind of movement that brings in a little heat and gets the heart rate up for about 3 minutes. Whatever kind of movement you choose, keep coming back to your daily intention and it will really ground it into your body.
5) Light a Candle
I once read that it is a Danish tradition to light candles in the morning as you make your coffee or get your breakfast together. I’m not Danish so I can’t confirm, but I did adopt this for a time and I must say it made my mornings (particularly during the winter) so cozy and magical. The act of lighting a candle is quite divine and I don’t think we should necessarily save candle lighting for sacred ceremony only. You can add an extra dash of magic by whispering your daily intention into the candle as you light it. Perhaps appoint this as your morning ritual candle and use it only for this action, so you know whenever this candle is lit, you are invoking intentionality and a little magic to start your day.
6) Drink your Crystal-Infused Water
Pour yourself a glass of your crystal water you had infusing all night long. By placing a crystal in or next to your water, you are consuming its vibrational energy and incorporating its subtle healing and supportive properties into your cells. Sip it throughout the day to invoke that sense of healing and magic all day long!
